Founded in 2009, A1 Judo Club is a family-run community club based in East Ham, Newham. We welcome everyone from little ones aged 3+ through to adults, creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where all ages and abilities can enjoy and develop through judo.
We are proud to be a member club of the British Judo Association and accredited under the Sport England Safeguarding Code.
Whether you’re looking for a new hobby, a fun way to stay active, or a sport that builds lifelong skills, judo has something for everyone.
As a sport, judo improves fitness, strength, balance, coordination and overall wellbeing while helping children and adults develop focus, resilience and self-discipline.
Through training together, our members build confidence, make lasting friendships, achieve personal goals and celebrate progress both on and off the mat.
As a martial art, judo also teaches important values that stay with you for life, including respect, courtesy, courage, honesty, humility, self-control and friendship.
Our mission is simple: to inspire people to fall in love with judo, enjoy the journey, and become a little better than they were yesterday.
Visitors and new starters are always welcome.
Develop self-belief and a positive mindset.
Get stronger, fitter and more energised.
Discipline, respect and focus in every class.
Supportive environment with club activities and competitions
Fun classes that build confidence and coordination. Through carefully designed games, movement activities, and gentle judo play, we help toddlers develop motor skills, coordination, body awareness, and social confidence in a safe and nurturing environment.
Learn martial arts, make friends and achieve goals. Sessions are structured, energetic, and purposeful — children learn real throws, breakfalls, and groundwork in a way that is age-appropriate and genuinely fun. Focus, listening skills, and self-discipline develop naturally alongside physical confidence and coordination.
